I would love to use Kometa — it would make a huge difference for me. Unfortunately, we don’t use Plex. With our frequent internet outages, Plex always causes authentication issues, so I’m currently stuck with Emby. I’m really hoping the Jellyfin app experience improves so I can eventually migrate. It would be amazing to see Emby/Jellyfin support for Kometa, and I’ve been waiting patiently for over a year already!

Webysther Sperandio I've also started working on the integration of Emby into Kometa. My current version can be found here: https://github.com/tommargar/Kometa/tree/feature_emby_overlays
Here's my forum post starting at page 6 with further information: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/115403-plex-meta-manager-emby-support/page/6/#findComment-1402878
The plugin dll is only availabe on Emby forums ATM, see Github for the Kometa Emby version. New 4.9 version with auto update in development.
I'm planning to clean up the code occasionally, as I've changed some code outside plex.py to make it work.

Tom I make a wrapper for plex to work, can you open a PR as a Draft AS-IS over kometa to allow see the changes more easily? Don't mind too much about any mess, its ok for me.

Tom Which is still compatible we can build a Base class for Kodi/Emby/Jelyfin, I think almost all wrapper that translate methods and attrs for plex-like

Webysther SperandioI'll send a pull request later once home. I've replicated Plex objects for the most part, using native Emby json when doing more server work.
Auto collections were modified to create regular collections.
Due to the way collections work in Plex vs Emby, I also had to add a prefix and lib name, otherwise same named collections would be overwritten from other libraries.
Dummy Plex library needed, let me know if you have any questions once I've created the pull request.

I suggest split this Feature Request one for Jellyfin and another for Emby, the next release will not have more compatibility with Emby. Another feature also can be created for Kodi to make sure the feature have the correct demand.

I have started here: https://github.com/Kometa-Team/Kometa/pull/2789
This is working only as read-only (2025-09-07), the method to write is skipped, test and reporting bug on comments in the PR is appreciate.
Write is planned for until next week, please check the PR changes to make sure to not destroy you jellyfin, if necessary disable RW for library on jellyfin for safety.
This initial jellyfin support will only work for movie collections and will be incomplete (no overlay), this will serve as base for additional PR to add the complete feature set.

Looks like this guy submitted a PR 3 days ago to the wrong branch and has left it since... https://github.com/Kometa-Team/Kometa/pull/2773

I have just moved over to Jellyfin from plex because of their recent changes, as commented below.
Kometa for Jellyfin is the FIRST thing I searched for, sad it doesn't exist. But happy to see it planned.
This has my vote definitely

With the lastest Plex annoucement, the direction of plex is sadly clear, The only thing id miss about Plex is Kometa, so id love to see JF added.

Plex is giving the finger to its most loyal long-term users. And while Jellyfin lacks a lot of features that I consider necessary (e.g. proper user management and SMTP), there are work-arounds available. What really stings is the lack of Kometa support.

If there's a bounty for this, I'd throw a few bucks towards this issue in particular.

I am also a loyal plex user as i have purchased a lifetime pass, but I don't see how they are giving me the finger? They are a company so they obviously have to make money and it is obvious that you should change the business model to avoid all non loyal users that use the free options. With that said, I'd really like to see support for emby and jellyfin as especially jelly fin would be a nice free alternative when they catc up featurewise

Don't get me wrong; I've been a lifetime Plex Pass holder for 13 years. At the time, it was a substantial investment for me -- and something I didn't take lightly.
What I take issue with is the slow enshitification of the platform and the broken promises.
As Plex is eagerly trying to secure subscriptions, features like the download functionality are reportedly being tucked away behind the paywall. This was something that was previously free to the non-Plex Pass users (so long as I, the administrator, held a Plex Pass). Now, all of the sudden, the terms have changed? What did I pay for?
Instead of providing new innovative functionality that folks may be willing to shell out for, they're crippling the experience users have come to expect. This isn't how you secure new revenue -- it's how you lose loyal customers. Do or make something new. Stop taking things away.
On top of that, their push to "go legitimate" has really made their priorities all too clear. Plex is no longer interested in being a home media server -- they want to be yet another content provider. Homescreens are cluttered with Plex-sponsored trash-tier content. Bugs related to home media server functionality go ignored for
years.
It really feels like a breaking point.

Plex is going in the wrong direction, They messed up the client app and removed good features. Hopefully they will not mess up the server. Kometa is an awesome tool and the only thing keeping me from switching to Jellyfin.
Thank you for the great work by this development team!! I am hoping Plex gets their act together or praying the developer team find time to work on Jellyfin.

I was quite excited to come across Kometa as it was labeled as "A powerful tool designed to give you complete control over your media libraries." only to discover it's completely integrated with Plex. Given their current track record I've stayed far away, many users are leaving in droves, first their privacy incidents/leaks/email fiasco, then removing syncplay, and now requiring premium to stream to your own device? Plex seem determined to alienate their users and push them all to other platforms.
I understand the complexity of this undertaking, it will understandably take a lot of time and effort, if I had the time and knowledge I'd contribute to the code myself. Either way, thank you devs, I'm glad it's at least planned.
