I'd also like to see this feature implemented. Locking and then running the updater isn't a viable option for me, as it would require running the entire updater multiple times every time I want to make some changes.

Realized this is already possible. If the genre tag is locked then the mass_genre_updater will only add genres despite the logs showing genres being removed.
